Decorating Bargains

Filed under: decorating — by michellew @ 3:18 pm

I’m constantly looking for the cheapest way to decorate and organize my house.  I have a few favorite stops, depending on what I’m looking for.  Generally I’ll look in Big Lots, Target, Walmart, Lowes, and possibly Home Goods.  But I’d like to branch out a bit.  This is where you come in.  Where are your favorite places to find that great deal while making your home more organized, comfy or stylish?

Leave your comment indicating in what store you’d look for each item:
1.  Curtains
2.  Rugs
3.  Wall Art/Decor
4.  Storage shelves/bins
5.  Kitchen towels/linens
6.  Cool dishes such as pottery bowls/mugs/decor bowls
7.  Vases
8.  Furniture (shelves, tables etc)

  1. I usually hit those stores you mentioned as well. For rugs, you could go to End of the Roll (in Rossville) and get a remnant bound for a cheap price. Now that Ikea is closer and my sister is near Atlanta, I might get there more often. Sometimes the clearance sections of department stores have some neat vases and things… Or Marshall’s or T.J. Maxx (which Home Goods is a part of their empire).

  4. hey. i was talking to laura pettit yesterday about a shirt that cassy has that i absolutely loved. it was a super nice hip green patterned tank type thing, probably produced in the UK or someplace like that. lp said they went to rugged warehouse and found it. i understand there’s one in fort o and one out by hamilton place. the prices are good for all kinds of clothing, sort of hit or miss…i know you weren’t asking about fashion!

tuesday morning is one of the greatest places in the world for beautiful cloth napkins, tableclothes and placemants. i’ve also found great baskets for storage and really cool dishware. i’m also a huge fan of big lots. of course if you’re not into the whole sort of thrifting it than these places wouldn’t be for you.

oh well that my two cents:)

  6. Cat- Tuesday Morning! I went there with my mom when I was in Illinois recently. Her’s was so organized and really nice. The last time, and maybe only time, I went to our Tuesday morning it was so disorganized. Maybe its changed?

We do have a world market J. I’ve been in there a couple of times, but I forget about it. I’ll have to stop in there again sometime soon.
